We had some discussion recently about a lake Rathbun meet being moved back and held 2nd weekend in June. Considering the 7th through Sunday the 10th of June. Any interest?
-
I like June, but would be more in favor of the weekend of the 23rd or maybe the 16th figure the later it is the better the weather could be.
But would be more interested in seeing a larger group there so whatever works for the most people

Well, the 23-24th weekend could work for us, but we thought that weekend was too close to July 4th for others to make it. The 16-17th is a 3rd weekend of the month and Tim camps with a camping group every third weekend. I'd like to see a larger group as well, but I have not heard from anyone else. Very preliminary work right now, just seeing who is interested in going.
-
Barring any major complications we would make it to any of those weekends

No reason any of the June dates won't work for me. The MN meet on the other hand...that's a problem.
-
23rd-24th is probably better for us.
-
I’ll go with the flow . I’ll invite the couple that bought Marmalade from me !!!
-
Appears to be some interest, should we go back to camping at honey Creek state park? Most everyone is familiar with that location.
-
I liked the new place because it’s nice to have the boat in a slip at the marina :-)

We should try to nail down the date and get it on our calendars, looks like there’s only a few of us interested at this point. I did really like being able to be in a slip at honey Creek, so that would be my pick. Looks like the dates we talked about are the 7th and the 23rd, there is a huge party on the river in Stillwater the weekend of the 23rd but that won’t stop me from coming if that’s the decided day, as I stated earlier whatever is going to get the most people there.

I will absolutely try to attend either date.

June 22, 23, and 24th are the set event days for Rathbun 2018. The Marina and office doesn't open till April so I have to wait a little to make reservations. Connie and I plan to arrive on the 21st(Wednesday) to make for a longer stay since we take the RV. We have enjoyed the amenities of the Marina, the restaurant has some great food, the boat slips are convenient, especially for a moonlight cruise(88% wax gib) on Saturday night. Rathbun is a nice lake with plenty to see and do, hope to see a good turnout.

It is on our calendar tomorrow arrive Thursday the 21st

btw...I'll probably day trip it each day.
-
You might be able to leave your boat either in a slip or over where we store trailers for no cost. Would make day tripping a lot easier if you didn't have to drag the boat both ways. Just an idea

Yes, that's kind of what I was thinking as well. Plus, if I get there late, I can always find you guys...its a big lake, but not that big...

I just got off the phone with Janell(641)724-3212, I set reservations for Wednesday the 20th of June through Sunday morning June 24th. Anyone/everyone is welcome to attend, got a campsite for the RV, and a slip for the CVZ for the same time frame. Somewhat combining a personal camping trip with a Glastron meet. Friday lunch at the Resort and beach/float day on Saturday are the highlights for us. Last year we went out on a moonlight cruise which was a lot of fun. Last I knew Joe/Laurie, Tim/Christine, and Doran are planning to attend. Lots of amenities, marina, state park, resort, water park, very nice lake, lots of family fun to be had. Hope to see you there.

Which campsite are you in?

Should be the same as last year, give or take a site or two. I asked Janelle to reserve a block of 4 sites. I told her it was the Glastron folks again and she seemed happy to have us back. They are expanding and selling more sites for seasonal use, but we should be good this year if you make reservations soon.

We are booked for 21st to 23rd

Who's getting pumped for this!? I'm hoping to have a running boat this year. I'm dragging it out there either way. Trent, if you come can you bring my transom saver?

I hope you all have a good weekend and good weather!

We got a late start Wednesday due to rain. Rather difficult to get everything packed and hooked up in the rain. Made it Rathbun circa 6pm. Put Z in a slip, parked trailer, and set camp. Had a nice dinner at Louie's (restaurant at the marina), their artichoke dip is fantastic, and hey, calories on vacation don't count! Weather is chance of spotty showers, cloudy right now, but we haven't had rain since the drive over. Had a nice breakfast and got cleaned up, time to burn some fuel.
-
I'll be down Saturday at sometime. I have props & bumpers to send back with you Joe for Jeff.
-
We are just hitting the road now, see you all this evening

Don't forget pictures guys !
Have a GREAT time !
-
Here is one picture of Tim's GT, quite a rocket with a good running 115.
-
More photos to come, but likely after we get home, since everyone is on their data plans. We got a little moisture yesterday, but overall the water conditions were fantastic. Few boats, perfect conditions for go fast. Water temp is 80, air temp 71. Cloudy and spotty showers, but no storms.

Weather may not have been the best for the Rathbun 2018 gathering, but all in all it was a great time with plenty of boating and visiting. We had four Glastrons at the event, Trent's CV-16, Bigelow's 1900, our CVZ, and Tims GT-150. Everyone seemed to run great, no breakdowns. Tim's GT probably ran better than it ever has, it literally jumps out of the water, then flattens out on plane. A few rain drops here and there, but thankfully no storms. We took a moonlight cruise in the 1900 Saturday night and Sunday morning cruise around the lake were some of the highlights of the trip. Beach time on Saturday had a few folks stop by to admire the Glastrons, and to share their stories of owning them back in the day. We beached just off the point entrance to the main lake from the 5mph speed zone. From here you get a slow parade of all kind of watercraft. There was a couple that stopped by to admire our boats, he had a BBC/Alpha drive 21' go fast boat, I think it was a Thompsen? Hospitality at the campsite/Marina was great, the convenience store is well stocked if you forgot anything. Marina slips were nice, and easy to come and go as ya please. The marina staff recognize us and are friendly, they all said welcome back. Oddly, we never had a campfire, but we had a good visit Friday night with everyone in attendance. Trent from Neb City came in on Friday with his girlfriend Erin and her son Max. They had a rough first night on their first camping outing, but I'm hoping overall their experience was good, and that they will come back for more events. Doran stopped by to drop off some equipment, but we missed him as he needed to head back North before we came in for lunch. I wish I had a few more pictures to share, but its easy to get caught up enjoying the company and not taking pictures. Didn't hear back from Trent, but Tim, Joe/Laurie, and ourselves made the trek back home with no issues. Overall Rathbun 2018 was a great time for us, I hope everyone else enjoyed the trip.

Did everyone get out before the storms rolled through?

Did everyone get out before the storms rolled through?
We left around noon, Tim left about 11:30, J/L stayed till 3pm-ish, Trent was gone when J/L left. We had nothing but hot and cloudy heading home, J/L had a few raindrops headed back North. We had a few raindrops while out on the lake, but no lightning, so we stayed out Wed and Thur.
-
GREAT to hear everything went well and no break downs !
Hope to some day make the trip/ meet ...
-
Some of my pics. IT's much more enjoyable with a good running boat.

We hit quite a few raindrops. In and out of rain most of the way home. Was like that coming down on Thursday also. Lol
