I picked this up last night, What was I thinking?! ...named it CRUSH. :) 77 CVX-20 in very rough shape... planning to strip what I can use off of it for Julius... i.e. the "Deluxe" model extras, center console, rear hand rails, lights, vent covers, etc. Whatever I don't need I will eventually part out to whoever needs. Trailer is pretty sound as well.
I have no idea what condition the 460 Ford is "really" in. Owner said it was running but the pump was frozen. He tried to take it apart and work on it, got part way in and stopped. I have my doubts, as it looks like it sat outside for some time and it's not all together. Last registered in '09, so who knows. I forgot to get pics this morning of the engine, but there are aluminum manifold and risers on it.... hopefully in good condition. I have a 455 in my boat, so if you need anything off of the 460, let me know.
It will take me some time to dig into it.

That's a fixer. You should see what I start with.

Sure Doug, I'll get what I can off of it... the base cushion is easy. The seat back, I don't know... the wrap around seat is actually "unwrapping" because its so rottted out... but I'll see what I can get.
Yea... not overly thrilled!

" Yea... not overly thrilled! "
Yep ... seen that look before ...
OHhhh... Mark not another one, how many can you use at one time, Ya right it will only be in the garage/driveway for a week ....
You said this is the last one three boat's ago ...
....LOL
-
hehehe... HI Gregg. Goal is to strip everything useful and discard as quickly as possible. We have a boat salvage place here in SA, will be making a donation this spring unless someone wants the hull too. I'll get as much or more for the trailer as I have in the thing. Big thing was that center console... want to fix that up and put in mine if it's doable.
-
Trailer prices are NUTs up here ..
$1700 for a new one to fit my boat, payed $900 for same trailer eight years ago.

Wrong color ?
Hardware should bring a few bucks also !
-
Wrong color ?
We'll have to see what it looks like when I get it out and try to wet sand/buff it out... I think it's the same color or very close.
-
If we figure something out with the PM I just send you, I might take the dashboard rail as well. Always wanted to have one and remodel it from CVX 20 to CVC 18.

Thats a shame but it will live on by being an organ donor. :D
-
I could use the Tow Eye behind the engine cover I broke a stud off mine taking it out last night. Let me know what you need for it. Also where are you at I may be interested in the trailer.

Marks in texas ...
Long drive ... LOL

Hey guys. I have not done much with CRUSH... will probably take me a few months to get to it since I'm spending most of my spare time right now getting Julius fixed up for spring.
Aaron, I'm planning to keep that dash hand rail. I've also checked on the bracket you asked about... don't think there is one there, sorry bout that. If I run across one I will let you know.
Fireman24mn... the tow eye on CRUSH is better than the one on my boat, so was planning to swap out. But, when I can get to it, you can have the other. It's not really in bad shape, just has a few cuts/scratches on the back side of it. How does $10 sound? I'll post some pics of it. I'm in San Antonio TX. I may keep the trailer, it's actually in decent shape... just needs some new bunks, lights fixed and touch up. I'll let you know if I decide to sell.
I finished my CVX-20 trailer, new paint, bunks, lights, etc. I also got the teak wood strips refinished and riveted back on, swim ladder properly installed, and just installed new engine bilge vents... finished up tonight. Man, I hated to do it, but I just couldn't locate original vents, so.... I ended up cutting new holes in the fiberglass to fit the new vents and box in. Turned out good I think, not original, but good looking. I'll try to post some pictures of it soon. It's coming along. I would love to get it done and join you at a meet this year!

Sounds good to me let me know how and when you want the money.
-
Mark, the bracket is there. I can see it on the picture. If those pics have not been taken a long time ago you should still have it.
It's the one which goes from the upper right to the lower left corner.
It has two screws in the upper right.

Aaron, I'll pull that off... It looked different than the picture you sent me. I'll pm you.
fireman24mn, sent you a pm as well. Will do.

I'm going to hold off on parting out any more of the boat until I know for sure what I want/need to keep... that way I'm not disappointing folks by saying I'm going to keep this or that. I'll advertise specific items as I decide to let them go.
Aaron... I didn't realize that this boat had the place diverter on it. I have a box full of other parts I haven't gone through yet that may have the rest of it... I'll need to keep all that as I may use on mine.
fireman24mn... no problem, you can still have the tow eye, that is if I can make the swap without breaking one :) I tried to take this one off, and it would not pound out with a hammer. Could barely see it as it was dusk, but it may have some kind of washer that is holding them in. Do you have a washer on the back side crimped and holding it in place? I'll need to try again in daylight and bring something to grind around the stem to make sure it is free. I can see now probably why you broke yours trying to remove, not as easy as I thought it would be.

Finding a place diverter would be a nice surprise!
-
I'm not really sure Doran if that's what it is... didn't think it originally had one, but I could be wrong. That really would be a nice surprise.
-
On mine one of the studs snapped off when taking the nut off. Just let me know if you get it.
-
Will do. I got the nuts off just fine, but when trying to hammer it out it didn't move at all. I didn't want to hit it too hard for fear of breaking something. Must be something simple.
BTW, what is the story behind your avatar?
-
It is a pic of me in the middle in orange and the 2 groomsmen for my wedding. I always said if I get married I was going to be in the orange Dumb & Dumber tux. First I got married shocked everyone and plus I wore the Tux. It was just my 2 year anniversary last week. Vegas Lost money on me. LOL

Doug, finally tore into CRUSH this weekend. Here is what I found on the seats... totally trashed! I took a few pics with measurements that might be useful to you, but as you can see, they all are rotten and falling apart. Everything was so distorted and falling apart, don't think I can get much of a pattern. The rear bench seat I tried to salvage the frame, cushion, thinking someone might want that for a pattern as well. But as you can see from the before and after I moved it pictures, it literaly unded up in a heap of pieces when I tried to move it around. I think I'm safe in assuming that I can trash what's left of the seat frame and cushion, buckets, etc.?, correct? Or does someone need a measurement?
-
few pics of the bench seat frame and foam. Fell apart when removing the ski pylon and moving it around. hope the trash man takes the pieces. Let me know if you need a measurement, but I'm sure there are better examples out there.

Would like to use this center console in Julius... will need to be reshot with gel... if it can be matched well enough? Either that or wrap in vinyl... that would look 70s, wouldn't it? the original color was awesome. In this picture it doesn't look too awful, but it's wet. The cup holders are in good shape, and the lighter is still there :)
-
This was in the console... a Pioneer "supertuner" mounted in what looks to me like a cut out of a Ford pickup dash... Is that right or can someone ID what it's from?
-
What really sucks as far as the hull is concerned if someone wanted to restore it... the previous owner, what appears in their attempts to lift the motor to get the drive shaft/pump/bearing assemblies apart (I think they were trying to replace the pump bearings which look to be shot), apparently they didn't have a motor puller, so it looks like they used timbers across the back of the boat to crank and lift the engine with. The hull is buckled on both the left and right sides from all the weight. I don't know what else would have done that. The wood on the inside of the engine compartment is bowed in on one side, and the other side it has separated. They ruined this hull.
Plan to pull the complete 460 out this coming weekend. It turns freely :)

On mine one of the studs snapped off when taking the nut off. Just let me know if you get it.
Shawn, I beat the snot out of that tow eye and could not get it to budge.
-
Sure was pretty when new... just for grins I did a little wet sanding, course it's wet in this pic.
-
Has a newer 27gal poly tank that was installed. Love the fuel gauge.

Ok well let me know if you get It.

It does look like a Ford Pickup dash to me as well.
-
Laugh all you want at that fuel gauge but it will never go out and it will always give you a true reading. ;D

True... I just figured when I saw it I could look at the tank and tell when it's about 1/2 full. I say that, but then I'll end up doing the same thing someday. :)
-
Ya that fuel gauge is nice but I perfer pokin' a stick down'n the filler ...
