Just so you know someone's reading your post ... I'll reply.
I'm not local to the TC's, so I can't offer any help. Next weekend, though, I'm all about it ...
Stay safe!

Joe, I'm ready to hit the water, but the whole family is over here and everyone is watching the Women's Softball College World Series. I'd rather be boating, and it is just gorgeous weather here today.

Hey Joe! I got a bunch of leftovers for you to pick through for the X-19 project...trying to pay it forward!

It was awesome... Slouch a different perspective from the water. And not as scary as I expected :)
Vary little traffic, 1 barge and a few house boats and cruisers.

The Miss. and Mn. river are great for small boats ...
The St. Croix on a weekend ... Not so much ...
Wish I could have joined you !

I love that area too. Where exactly did you launch? Hidden falls? Lilydale? Fort Snelling?
-
We were heading to lilydale but water st was closed at the swing bridge, so we headed to south st paul. put in there and went up to hidden falls, then up the Minnesota to about fort Snelling park.
-
Question :
Loading at the s St. Paul ramp was a bugger due to the current.
Are any of the other ramps better ?
-
Lilydale is not real great. I've seen a lot of cars broke in there. ramp is in not in a no wake, no docks, and not really a beach to hold your boat at.
Hidden falls is a decent ramp but the current is REALLY strong.
Fort Snelling is probably the best in the area but is not free.
I really like SSP under 494 bridge. Current is not TOO bad, dock, free,
Then there is Newport which is in some backwater. No current, no wake, dock, free, Just really muddy around the ramp and not much room to move around.
The marina in the no wake zone near fort snelling on the Mississippi has a really nice ramp but we have never used it and I am sure it's not free.

What a great shot of downtown through the bridge arches! Thanks for sharing!

Very cool. The river can be a little intimidating but you'll get used to it. Where'd all the mud on your bow come from? Muddy Mississippi?
I've only put in once at Fort Snelling. Not a great ramp and you have to pay but it has a decent picanic area and near the Mississippi and Minnesota junction. Really not much area to beach by the dock.
