Cool Breeze !
« on: September 04, 2011, 10:09:56 AM »
Boat related topic comining in a minute, but First .. Good News ... after 61 days of temperatures from 100 to 113 we Okies woke up thin morning to a temp of 67 degree's with about a 20 mph north wind, forcast for the next 7 day's include high temps in the mid 80's and low's in the 50's ... Cool Beans !

I finally got the parts back for the stroker, the block and the heads all checked out just fine,   got it put back together yesterday with the different style intake manifold, thats the only thing we have found that would have been the problem.  I'll get it finished up and run it today ... keeping my fingers crossed.

While I been waiting on parts, I started stripping the clear coat off the Scimitar, got about 90% done with that.

Ouch!  Been there with the clear coat!  I know it will look fantastic when you are done though.   Going to go with an iridescent coating again or candy or ???.

Hey Chris ... I've been looking for some close to original color flake in .025 size, and I have found some .015, and a couple close, and a little briliant red .008, a couple more, I figure I will get me an old car hood to experiment with the colors befor I decide.

Hey Jerry, you coming right along with that baby, I like the red, Barb gave me the chip.
and Yes !  I've had some bad luck with this motor, but it did finally come together, and sounds good,  I didn't mess with it today, gave the neoghbors a break, I spent today on the boat, all the old clear coat is gone now except for the back end, thats is gonna take a while.

yep. There's more somewhere. The big ones were destroyed in a fire at my Mothers house, 30 years ago.

20 razor blades later

took about 20 razor blades, and I only cut myself twice
still got the back swoop below the bump rail and it's ready for a squirt

That looks like a lot of work. Now, all razor blade work or did you do some sanding too? I dont know how clear comes off. Only two cuts? Not too bad!

Jerry, I have to ask...how did you flip that boat over ???

I had about 6 people and rolled it over on some soft stuff in the driveway, then carried it into the garage. I have an easier way in mind to get it back up-right. stay tuned.

Yes ... I run the sander over it using 3M 220 grit, got the back end finished up today, that took all day with all the grooves, steps, snd louvers, just got "swoop" under the bump rail left to do,  I'll probably samd that off, when the sun has not baked the clear coat, it's stuck on like super glue.
