Found this on ebay today

Hello I have a  rare  marine turbo kit made by M&W Gear. The company produced this kit in the 70’s for many different marine engines. This is the MT-30 kit which was for the Mercruiser 350cid  250hp,260hp, and 288hp 4 barrel engines. I believe it will work on any SBC 350cid 5.7 as long as you have the right exhaust manifolds, you will have to research it.  This kit was made to bolt on to a factory engine without having to make any internal modification. The turbo’s are in good used condition and have no shaft play and are water cooled. The exhaust side of the turbo's do have some surface rust but should not affect turbo's. This would make a great addition to a restoration project or just a new build. I also have the original shop service manual for the turbo's and the color selling brochure. I do not have an install manual for the kit. The turbo's, carburetor  box, and exhaust manifolds are stamped with M&W company logo.

Everything you see in the picture is what you will receive. You may need some miscellaneous hardware or coolant lines.

50hp gain with higher RPM's huh. Kinda cool though. Looks like it uses the old log style exhaust.

I can.... AWESOME  ;D

Kind of interesting that it looks like the carb would mount inside of the "collection box" from the turbos. If I had a 350 in a boat I'd probably bid on it. $500 is a steal for what comes with that kit!

I was thinking the same. If I had Fawkes on the water it would be fun to try for that money!

It IS cool, however I'd be concerned about finding parts if needed.

Me  too Ross, althougu it is pretty cool. Turbos help give a lot of grunt down low so it would probably work good in a marine application.

I agree with the cool factor. But like mentioned, if any part of it ever fails, it's all gotta go. Surprised by the low performance numbers. A good cam/intake/carb combo could yield those numbers on an otherwise stock motor. And usually even moderate single turbos can produce 30-40% increases when set up correctly. Maybe they were low boost turbos that spool easily for a little extra mid range pull? Who knows. I guess you could always get the kit for all the plumbing and swap in some newer higher boost turbos and really make some power, but that may not last long on an older stock bottom end.

My question is can the manifolds handle the extra pressure with out blowing the end gaskets if you utilize higher pressure turbos?

Hah! Who knows! A thought comes to mind... and I'm only speculating here, certainly not an expert of anything. But if you go back to the basic idea that you can only push so much horsepower through stock manifolds without seriously restricting all your expensive aftermarket parts, and then you factor in that you would be further restricting it with turbos, and then consider that you would be then circulating back and trying to force even MORE air through the manifolds once the turbos are producing boost... it becomes a viscious cycle of restriction. Maybe my theory of possibly using the plumbing with better turbos doesn't really make much sense after all.  ::)

It's not THAT much pressure. Maybe 15psi max.

Your right Wex. There is also a reason they don't make those anymore and you never see them. A carb/intake/cam would be the way to go.
