Misc SBC parts
« on: October 15, 2013, 08:26:14 PM »
2 sets of heads 50.00/pr
1 set of rods with pistons attached
Old school Holley aluminum valve covers 20.00
Crank

Just throwing it out there. I haven't looked to see what any of its worth. Make an offer or I'll throw some prices on in the next few days.

I wrote them down somewhere.  :P
I have a pic. Maybe they are the same? I can check tomorrow.
2 of them are off my original 71 350
The other 2 came off my donor block which was a mid 70's 1 ton truck.

Doran, there is an intake for you. The 4 bbl Quadrajet I have on the shelf would work perfect on that.

Finally got around to getting casting numbers and threw everything on Craigslist. Within a couple of hours I had a buyer for the crank and the better set of heads plus the valve covers. Drove up from Red Wing to get them.
The 3932441 heads (the originals from the V175) were 69-72 327,350 heads with 76cc chambers 1.94/1.50 valves
The ones I have left are 14022601 79-86 267/305 with 58cc chambers 1.84/1.50 valves.
They were hemming and hawing over the rods too but didn't take them.

Depends on who you ask I suppose.
Pull hoses
Pull distributor. Taking the carb off would make it lighter
Remove bolts
Pry intake loose.
Reverse procedure using new gaskets.

it's pretty standard nuts 'n bolts stuff Doran... and a detailed tutorial of how-to from the guys here. ask for instruction before you start, so you have things in place (like distributor) for re-assembly, and it'll go real smooth. like I said before, with a little instruction, once it's done, you'll look back and realize how easy it was, and gain alot of experience that will shed some understanding on numerous other internal operations of the motor, without actually having to deal with those. it's what I would consider a good first step in understanding and learning what engine repair is all about, without the risk of winding up with a box of parts and your hands in the air saying "now what?".  ;D

Could someone shed some light on the differences on the carb bore/hole layout on the 2 intakes I have?

I believe the Edelbrock intake is drilled and configured to accept either the Q-jet or Holley style (square pattern) carb set up, the stock manifold is Quadrajet only.  (Been a long time since I fooled with this stuff, hope I'm telling you right Ross!)

Makes sense the Edelbrock would be more configurable. Maybe just use different gaskets/spacers.
