SOLD 1980 CVX 16SS SOLD
« on: June 17, 2014, 08:58:46 AM »
Rathbun event has passed, and it looks like the CVZ is a keeper.   I just do not have time to properly care for two fine classics so the 16 is up for sale.   Hoping someone who loves Carlson's would be the next owner, so I decided to post here.   Feel free to call me.

1980 Glastron Carlson CVX 16 SS - $3000 (NW Omaha)
http://omaha.craigslist.org/boa/4523388125.html

From one of the greatest boat designers in the world, the Glastron Carlson's were way ahead of their time in both looks and performance. Sought after by hobbyists and collectors alike, the 16 SS was the I/O version of the popular CVX 16. This boat has been well cared for and has been in my personal possession for approximately 5 years. I purchased a CVZ project last year and really do not have the time to care properly for two beautiful classics. Stock Mercruiser 140 drive with electronic ignition. New impeller, ignition components, rebuilt carb and fuel pump. New aluminum 21 pitch prop. Fully serviced I/O. New tilt pucks. Power tilt and trim with dash mounted trim indicator. CD 4 speaker Clarion stereo. Newer trailer with new tires in 2012. New fire extinguisher, throw able flotation device. Windshield and posts in great condition, no cracks. Needs nothing but life vests and water. Interior and gelcoat could use some love, but both are fully capable of providing excellent service for years to come. Won "Best on the Beach" trophy at a Glastron Carlson boat show at lake Rathbun in 2012. Boat was just at Rathbun 2014 meet and performed well, top speed was just under 45 MPH. Fuel economy is fantastic, run all day long on a single tank, something to consider when fuel at the Marina is over $4.00 a gallon. Have clear title/registration on both boat and trailer. Has a fish finder depth gauge, but did not appear to work this past weekend, powers on, but no depth reading. Photos are from cleaning unit up after trip to Rathbun this past weekend. Excellent example of a classic boat. Floor and transom are rock solid. Asking $3200.00 Accepting calls after 5pm weekdays, and all day on the weekends. Please call 402-516-five one one seven to discuss.
Test rides are available for $100.00, which will be applied to purchase price for interested parties. Something I hate to do, but the last boat I sold, I gave 6 rides to folks who apparently had little interest other than a free boat ride. NADA guide for this boat/trailer average retail is $3500.00

Funny, best offer I had last September was $1700.00    Asked around, most folks said it was worth 2500 to 3000.  Happier to see it with an excited new boat owner, than to see her sit idle most of the time.   The Z project is likely to keep me busy enough in the years to come.   We did get to have fun with her one last time at lake Rathbun before she went up for sale.  Guy brought cash and bought it in the dark, go figure.   I hooked up the ear muffs, and it started instantly.  I could tell from his smile he was taking it home that night.

Honestly I have mixed emotions, I learned a great deal from its shortcomings, water pump, carb, fuel pump, ignition.   It had to be towed, and it served the duty of tow vehicle on different occasions.   The Z has better seating and fits both the family functions and sporty enough to get my face in the wind.   Like they say, best two days of a boat owners life are when you buy the boat, and when you sell it.
