I did stop by with the family Friday, and was ready to head down after Noon.

The weather patterns this time of year are difficult when it comes to a scheduled event.

The best laid plans of mice and men!  After spending the morning in the shop Thursday watching the rain, we finally decided to finalize and head towards Rathbun around 1pm Thursday.  Trip was dry, set up camp, 1st ones here appearantly.  Had a nice burger dinner, but decided not to boat as radar had a storm heading our way.  Tim/Christine arrived just as a light rain began.  Barely got their tent set up and a strong storm came through,  we headed for our trucks to ride it out.  Joe and his son from lincoln stopped by to say hello, stating they were going back to cook some dinner. Friday morning came and went, had some breakfast and watched it rain.  A break in the rain came and we headed to the ramp, ran to the bridge, looked over the beach area, picked up supplies at the marina, then headed over to the resort for lunch.  Lunch was tasty and filling and had great company.  After lunch we headed out on the lake, tied together, and floated for awhile.  Cloudy and overcast all day, but fortunately no rain. Tim was in desperate shape for fuel, so we headed to the marina, arriving 10 minutes after closing.  A sign on the fuel dock stated an extra $20 fee for after hours fuel.   The attendant showed up, was impressed by two Carlson's at his dock, provided the fuel, told us he and his wife own the marina, and were willing to have our group at their accommodations.  We then headed over to the beach by the camp, Joe was tied off with his GT, we beached, but never got out since everything appeared to be muddy.  Played around a bit, then headed for the ramp.  Friday night we met up with Brandon and Amber.  Discussed weather, had a nice campfire, and visited for awhile.  Saturday morning arrived with rounds of rain ending around 8am.  Got up, had some breakfast and coffee.  Looked like we might have a break in the rain once more, I was planning to break camp and head to the ramp, get in a few hours, then head out.  Rain reappeared so we all broke camp and decided to head home.   Spent the day at home hanging everything out to dry.  Rathbun is a nice place, but maybe we need to consider moving the event to July or September?  Sometime when the atmosphere is a bit more stable. We enjoyed the time spent even if the weather didn't want to cooperate.  Looking forward to seeing everyone in August.  Michael(Plugcheck)

Joe, I am almost positive that Glastron houseboat was the one on the beach with us the first year.

Yep We all agreed that it is time for a break from Rathbun and step back and weigh our options on either a different date or relocation.

I know all of us have really enjoyed the Rathbun Lake area over the past 4 years, but bigger and better things are hopefully on their way as we weigh all of our options.

Yep, its time.  If we were all closer and could go down there on a whim, that'd be one thing...but you guys travel a long way!  I'm all about meeting you guys on the Missouri next year.

One thing I forgot to mention is one of our own (Travis and Crystal Crouch and family) had their vehicle break down on the way home yesterday. They are now waiting for a repair shop in Corning, IA to look at it on Monday and hopefully get back on the road tomorrow. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers that it is cheap fix and not something major.
