That is awesome Ross. Glad the trip went without a problem. Cool boat!

My 67 V172 had the key style power trim too. Was kind of annoying but nice to keep it original.

Jason I recall the day we were on Minnetonka...was that really a trim switch or tilt you were using as trim?
Your V172 had all the bells and whistles.

Man you got the bug worse than I do! LOL! Nice score!
My V174 originally came with the Mercruiser 120 and also had the 2nd key thing for the tilt but it had been disconnected. The key was to unlock the drive so it could be tilted, the locking mech had been removed by some previous owner and you'd be hard pressed to find the parts. The V174 would get up to 40mph wide open with a stainless 21 prop, should do a little better in the V164. If it comes to it you can always convert it to an Alpha and a 3.0.

I am truly ill.
But I do think I might have a long term plan.
Get the V164 back to original as possible and usable. (seats, remove boarding platform)
Ditto for the V163 (carpet and seats
Finish the 175
Pillage the 305 and out drive out of the SSV and install in the 67 174. Then I'll have a spare 120 for the 164. Besides, there is little to work with on the 174 unfortunately so maybe a Rat Rod style boat. Nothing too crazy besides the V8 transplant. No over the transom exhaust or naked women on the bow.
Stick a 2 K into the 61 and sell it for 1200.00
Viper is in there somewhere. Probably after the major loss I take on the 61

Then I'll have an outboard, an I/O, a jet and a freak.
I better get busy!

The way I remember the tilt/trim on the 172 was the red switch would bring it up only so far. Then when you want to go past that (tilt) you turn the key to "start". My toggle was wearing out so sometimes you had to use the key to "trim" it.

Interesting place for an ID tag. I don't think I've seen one here before. Its not there on my other 67

Also, I received service manuals with the boat. These are probably worth something but I suppose you can find pretty much anything on line these days.

I believe that's where it was in my V174, aft end of the starboard side pocket but was long gone when I got the boat. Only the remnants of the mounting rivets remained. I found the serial number up underneath the rear engine deck on the factory paper tag in the fiberglass.

Hey Rosscoe. I live 20 miles east of there. Taking a trailer across the mighty Mac is really something. I hope you enjoyed my beautiful state. It looks much better when the trees don't appear dead.

I thought my 1100 mile trip to pick up a motor was bad. I think we are all ill. Is it weird I like hanging out at the boat dealer?
