New Tow Rig
« on: June 24, 2019, 03:13:24 PM »
I inherited my grandfathers van which he customized in the 70's. its only one year older than my CV23 so I think I'm going to fix it up and its going to become the new boat tow rig! That is going to be a lot of the 70's rolling down the road  :)

I might replace the faded carpet, and the captains chairs are sun faded from years of sitting, but the interior should clean up pretty nice!

Would make a good tow vehicle if the drivetrain is suitable for that purpose.  I had a conversion van, Ford, I believe a 96-97, that had the 351 and overdrive automatic.  Thought for certain it would be great for hitting car shows(VW), and boating, but later found that wasn't the case at all.  The rear end ratio was low.  Made for hauling people comfortably, not hauling.   So my advice would be to test the towing capacity before investing a lot of time/money in the rest.  Otherwise, cool score.

Very cool. Not many of those vans left. So it's a 77? What engine? Probably won't tow real fast but would be fun to use locally.

It needs some Molly Hatchet cover art on the sides, some dragons, swords, lightning,  etc.....gosh the 70's were fun!  Side pipes, cb antennas, yes!
