1968 V164 Bayflite Restoration
« on: August 24, 2020, 10:06:56 PM »
I recently acquired my grandfathers 1968 Bayflite. Strange thing is that it has a Glastron Custom 130 with a 270 outdrive aka Volvo Penta dual carb B20. I cannot see where this was ever an option for 1968. Wondering if this has been upgraded... Grandpa was into hot rodding his vehicles. Any info, parts, advice, would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Jim !
Glastron / Volvo motor packages didn't show up until 1970 in brochures.
I think it would have been a lot of work to change from Merc to Volvo transom cut out.

Most stuff / parts can be found here ..

Any thing else .. just post ..

Thanks for the quick response. I'm pretty sure based on the serial number that it is actually a 1971. Serial number is 1311668. My understanding is that in the seven digit serial number (pre 1972) that the fourth digit is the year. How it got titled as a 1968 is even crazier. The bow looks like a 1971.

Many old boats have wrong build date on them.
