I had a batch of Glastron steering wheel inserts laser cut by Rivercity Industries, S.A., using an original insert off my old 73 GT-150 as a guide.  They match up to my 72 V-166 steering wheel perfectly. The inserts are approx 5 & 9/16" long ...by... 1 & 3/8" wide at the widest point. Original was aluminium, extremely thin & easy to bend (0.018") with a slight brushed look.  These reproductions are a little thicker (0.023"), 304 Stainless Steel, #3 finish time saved for a similar look. Good because they are resistant to rusting, but they are a little heavier... bottom line, it's the stock they had available and I didn't want to drive costs up by special ordering.

Two sided tape was used on original to hold in place. Recommend using a good glue or industrial strength two-sided tape for these.

Pictures, 1) original 73 insert back (you can see where tape was);  2) picture of new inserts;  3) type steering wheel they're designed for.

If you need them, recommend getting at least 3 for consistency.  Keep in mind, my intent here is to help individuals restore their cool Glastrons, not bulk requests for other business type ventures... that's why I'm not asking an arm and a leg for them.  No bulk requests.

How to Order:  Send me a PM with your needs.

Cost: $10 for each insert + $5 for shipping to most locations.

Post your feedback/pics:  I look forward to reading about how they work, look, your recommendations for the group on what worked best in applying to wheel, etc., and/or how I can improve future ones

They look great bud, message on the way!

They came today Mark, and look great!  Thank You.   ;)

-
Not as pristine as your interior, but much improved over what it was!  ;)

-
They look great Mark, glad they're working out!  What did you use to attach?

-
They fit perfectly, no trimming was required.   I found an old tube of 5200 I had in the garage, all the product up by the opening had hardened.  So I took a razor knife and split the tube open down toward the bottom, lightly "buttered" the backsides of the inserts with it, worked like a champ!

				Hi Mark,

I'm 'a new kid in town'; my name is Stefan and live in the Netherlands. I own a 1972 Glastron V-164 with a VOLVO PENTA AQ130C and 270 heckdrive.
And although my boat was a really barnfind and has been sitting there for more than 30 years, the boat needs some TLC and a few missing parts.

For example; I have the original steering wheel but the inserts (3x) are missing. Due to the two sided tape; after 40 years...

I read on the forum that you have a batch of stainless steel inserts; do you have any left?
