Title: Swim Ladder
Post by: Joe Pivonka on March 18, 2014, 06:47:25 PM
Does anyone have a swim ladder that will fit the classic slanted GT transom? I want it for the back of my SSV-151.

Thanks!

I have one that I got for the bottom swing hinge step for my '78 SSV-177 that looks like that so it wouldn't have that step. Can't find the photo I had of it at the moment, but if you think it'll work I can dig it out of the garage and take another pic.

Gregg, looks like a bit more than I want to put in to a ladder  :)

Josh, Do you think that it would work to at least make it easier to get in to the boat?

Absolutely. The bottom rung would be just below the waterline but it would be better than hauling yourself over the gunwale!

I should be able to dig it out of the garage this weekend. I'll post a pic then and if it's what you're looking for we can work out getting it to you!

Joe,
I have this ladder I remover from my 174 I/O. I did not reinstall it after the transom repair.
It's yours if you can use it. Let me know if you need any other info.

It's available to any club member if Joe can't use it.

Thanks! Can you post some pictures, some from the side maybe so I can see if it might fit? If so, can you put a tape measure near it? Thanks! You could text me pics if that is easier. 815-762-4143

Looks good but I don't think it will bolt on to my transom. Thanks for checking.  :(

That looks like it might be the right one. Check out the picture I posted of the back of my boat. Does that look like a match? I hope so!

It does not look like a match to me, but, if you've been following Ray's thread on how he bent his tubing, you'll easily be able tweak that to be a perfect fit.

Looking at the picture again I think Doran's right. It's not an exact match, and the picture at the top looks like it only has the one rung at the waterline. If you took the bottom rung off of mine and did some pipe bending as he suggests then I think you'd have what you're looking for. The classics like these are near impossible to track down and it's not doing me any good sitting in my garage!

Can't argue with that! How much and how should I go about getting it?

It's not very heavy, but the box to ship it to you would be fairly large. Do you want me to find out what shipping would cost? Otherwise if I could take the steps off of it to disassemble it and get it into a smaller box. I'm assuming you'd probably do that anyway if you're going to be bending pipe to make it fit. Would that work? As far as cost, I think I paid $25 for it. Don't know about shipping as it'll depend on how based on what you decide as described above. How about just the cost of shipping? We club members look out for our own right?

That would be great. I would like to make the Iowa meet but my weekend is Thursday-Friday so I would have to be back for work on Saturday and it's a bit of a drive for me for just the one day. Let me know the cost and taking it apart is probably a good idea. Thanks! This group rocks! My zip is 60178
