Title: WTB or WTT 600/650 CFM carb
Post by: iowa cv-23 on May 28, 2014, 09:58:38 PM
The 750 marine Edelbrock is too much for my 350 pretty much crate motor - would anyone have something smaller that they would be interested in parting with?

Thanks,
Erik

Greetings Erik, nice CV 23 plate.     I dont have a carb to trade, but could be interested in purchasing yours.  Age of carb? approx how many hours?

I rebuilt and rebushed my Qjet, but it came from a 12 bolt manifold, and now my new engine is vortec top end(8 bolt).   Doing so loses the "Heat box" bimetallic box that controlled the choke.   So my choke is basically in-op.   Like to convert to electric, but unsure if what electric chock or parts are needed to do this.   So, instead of chasing my tail for weeks instead of actually boating, I was considering just getting a new carb.  BTW, my new Vortec edelbrock manifold is dual pattern so it will fit a square or spread bore carb.   Personally I like the spread bores, great economy and power on tap.

Can't you just wire that choke open? I do it on all my derby cars and never have a problem starting them in the summer. My 67 Montclair has a cable controlled choke and I never need to use it, even when it's down into the 40's.

Get ride of the choke all together,  I removed any thing that has to do with the choke.

Not planning to start my boat at 40 degrees or below feel no need for the choke unless I am missing something.

According to the book(Dennis Moore) the Q jet carb is one of the best for marine use.

I am going to try wiring it open, really do not need anyway in warm weather, just feather it a bit when cold I suppose.   Tearing the outdrive apart this weekend, hopefully not too torn up from Rathbun.
