General Discussion / Re: Separate bilge drain plug?
« Last post by Hyperacme on October 19, 2025, 08:16:29 PM »
Some Glaston's have a "Vent tube" under deck in bow .. some don't have the tube ..
I got my V156 used and did not have plugs in holes. Never knew they had plugs until years later when I got the owners manual.
My CV16 had a different design for hull drainage.

Any idea if this area is sealed tight to the bilge besides these two drain plugs? Seems like an odd design to have no access. Wasn?t sure if I was missing something. Haven?t felt around under the bow infront of where the carpet stops though. Any access there?

Received my boat back from the mechanic and took your advice on the shoestring method. I noticed there are actually two of those plugs in the sump area. To me it seems like it would only make sense to always leave them out, is there a reason why they say to be replaced? I'm thinking about finding a small automatic bilge pump to put in the sump area and leaving those plugs out. Thoughts?

Thanks again for all the help!

Project or tune and use.  Runs, floats, boats, but doesn?t stop well lol.  No time to finish project and don?t care to sit on it over winter so cash or trades for utility 4wheeler, ice wheelhouse, metal fabrication equipment, repairable vehicles, etc.  I have modified the floor in this boat to make it stiffer and more buoyant to accommodate the oversized motor as well as repaired and plated the transom to handle the extra power.  I believe it?s a year 88 Johnson 150GT so a 150horse motor but the GT motors took advantage of the 10% power rating accuracy and were bumped to 165.  I don?t know much about boat motors so I couldn?t get it tuned correctly in the short time I had on the water with it.  It bogs on the bottom end but rips once you are up on a plane.  Boat was surprisingly stable at around 50mph considering its length but as a disclaimer can be dangerous if you are inexperienced.  It is capable of considerably faster but again I never had it running correctly.  Open to offers TY

Extremely clean meticulously maintained, I am the second owner purchased the boat in April. All original it?s literally like a time capsule, I was shocked when I saw it. Runs great 115 Johnson, the floor and transom are solid. I have the title for the boat and trailer, also all the maintenance records. The interior doesn?t even have any rips, also comes with 3 extra props, and a removable ski pylon. There is to much to list contact Jon for more details.
