CVX-16 SS Parts Score
« on: February 05, 2020, 05:19:10 PM »
Been after a local guy to let me buy a few parts off his decaying CVX-16SS... he wanted to sell the whole thing to me, didn't want it, but finally gave me the green light for the parts, just got home from the harvest...

Windscreen & brackets--good to excellent condition
Instrument Glare Shield--good to excellent condition
Instrument Cluster--don't know what works and what doesn't, but look good; bezel is cracked and missing a few tiny chips in corners
Engine Cover with original screws--no damage other than faded
bow vent--broken posts but intact otherwise
Steering Wheel--ok to good condition
Bow Cap--scratched up but ok
Transom Rub Rail Caps--good condition
Horn--don't know if it works?
Teak Strips--ok condition, probably sand up and oil to look good
Stern Hand Rails--good condition

If you REALLY REALLY need something, especially for the specific SS model, i.e. engine cover, bezel, let me know.  Many of the parts that can transfer to the 16 outboard version I will likely hang on to for now.

The Mercruiser 140 seems intact, but no idea if it's stuck or what condition it's in. It's still there, lower unit, engine mounts, etc., and I hope someone gets the internals before he takes it to the land fill. I don't need it but just know it's there if you need it.

Mark the trailer.  I know a guy would have to store it, but factory trailers are hard to come by.

What about the vents on each side, are they all cracked and peeling. If not I would be interested in them

I did compare the dash and visor of the stuff I picked up off a cvx16, the same as the 20 Timmi I am working on.  Would guess there was only one size.

Seems like it was mostly complete, decent restoration project?   I always loved mine, the fuel economy was great, I just couldn't shake the allure of a Chevy V-8.   Good score, I just hate to see Glastrons end up in the boneyard.   The trailer would be a nice score as well, lots of Glastrons fit those.

Trailer--pictures make it look better than reality I think... yes, could be restored, but rusting, pieces falling off, hitch was bent up at a 45 degree angle, he sledged it down and welded a few support pieces on it to hold it together.  Trailer is just so so. No title, would have to purchase bill of sale only. I know I would have a hard time getting it restored and registered.

Vents on each side are not the original ones, are all peeling and in not good shape, they are replacements (same replacements I put on my 20 and can get on ebay).

Total redo, inside filled with leaves and water, not the one I want to kill my back on.. but maybe for someone.  Title issues.

I know what you mean, hate to see them go to the boneyard, but someone told me once... "can't save them all". If there is someone who really wants this boat & trailer, I can try to help you make it happen.  It's not far from me & it won't cost much for the initial purchase. But there are issues.

Located in Cibolo TX. Not advertised that I'm aware of.  Yea, no idea the condition.  It's a roll of the dice.

Great score Mark !
You can find bow lights that are close to original, but if that one's nice you should grab it.
I don't need it .. just saying ..

You're probably right, I thought about it, it's ok shape, but I have an extra and the last time I replaced one, on the 20, I used a new one that matched the old style perfectly, and it was LED.

You were right Gregg, looked at the one I had and it didn't have the bar...  I drove by there today and grabbed it!  lol
