Trim wiring Volvo out drive
« on: November 15, 2012, 11:53:12 PM »
I put the drive back on the V195  and the trim pump wont work with the switch it is like I am getting some Positive feed back threw the wires because when I put the test light on 2of the wires they just barely light up and one is very bright like it should be. If any one would have some insight or even better a wiring diagram that would be great. Thanks in advance
I think this has become an addiction.

Check for bad connections along the wire harness, especially if there's a plug joining the harness to the trim motor. Also check the switch, it could be bad internally.

Here is a wiring diagram for the hydraulic style trim. What model is your outdrive ?

mine is the Volvo 280 should be the same as the 270, 280, and 290. The diagram posted looks like maybe a merc? My trim switch is on the dash (a Toggle) and there is no trim pump I believe they are just a gear drive that pushes a cylinder down to raise the drive.

The diagram i sent is for a volvopenta 290 which is a hydraulic pump. The 280 uses an electro-mechanical unit, which is the diagram that Joe sent you. Hope this clears things up.

I sent you an email with the Volvo repair manual for your outdrive. I didn't know if I could send it by posting because of its large size. Let me know when you get it. Hope this helps.
