Really exited to add this 1974 CV 16 to the collection and finally own a "Classic"! This will join the 1989 Carlson 18CSS. I'm really curious to feel the difference in ride/performance between the two
I wasn't expecting/needed to obtain another semi project boat but it was in the right place at the right time and I couldn't pass it up!
The little information I have is it came out of West Bend (north of Milwaukee) Wisconsin must of been a estate sale or donation of some sort. From what I can tell someone really cared for this boat over the years. Seats looks original to me, along with most of the interior, gauges etc. It is missing one seat base and foam, but they kept the original vinyl wrap! Not sure what happened there, if the seat base rotted out or was damaged somehow but my plan is to build a new base with foam and use the original wrap for now to complete the interior. Carpet I am guessing has been replaced. I need to verify the wiring because it was a little bit of a mess but the main hookups for the battery are there, trim and crank work. I may have to rewire the gauges, they appear to be original and I really hope they work! Floor seems solid in the main area but there is a rotten section back under the splash well by the drain bowl. Seems most CV 16s are plagued with this issue. The gel is in really nice shape and should clean well with a moderate puff and polish. Transom from what I can tell is solid, no cracks inside or outside. Passes hammer tap test well and no flex when bouncing on the motor.
Motor is a 77 115hp and they had it running a week before I purchased, hoping to driveway fire this weekend! Hoping to try and get it wet next weekend!
Green is my favorite on these models and all signs pointed to yes with this thing so I couldn't say no!
