Trip to Voyageurs National Park
« on: July 21, 2011, 06:28:06 PM »
Thought I'd share some pictures from our Trip to Voyageurs National Park.

Voyageurs is HUGE! All campsites are accessible only by boat as well as the rest of the park. If you really want to feel what it's like to be in the middle of nowhere with no one for miles, this is the place. We must have put about 100 miles on the boat with no problems at all.

Then we stopped in Ely at Burntside Lake. This Lake is one of my favorites. Very deep (120' at it's deepest) and clear to about 20' down. Lots of small rocky islands and very little boat traffic.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Times of being awed by the beauty of nature, enjoying basic living, experiencing it with family, and talking about it for years to come.

We stayed in one place Ross. Boat was a gas hog with all our junk in it. But each day we would navigate in a different direction and head back. Most of the islands have camp sights on them but we took a mainland site as it was in a good location for keeping the wind off the boat. Most of the sites have bear lockers for your food and coolers. Unfortunately we did not see any bears.

The scariest part was the boat breaking down. We are very happy that did not happen!
