Looking for a rubrail for my 1971 V143. The two haves come together with about a 3/8” to 1/2” lip which I should have observed before I purchased a rubrail that worked on a v163 but that boat has a top and bottom where the top overhangs the bottom. What type of rubrail should I be looking for? Any help would be appreciated.

The V143's don't look different then most Glastron rails, from pictures.
I could ask or get you contact info for guy with boat pictured below.

I need to get a picture of my boat and what I am trying to attach the rub rail too.

My boat has a top and bottom that come together with lips that sticks out parallel with the top of the hull/water. The top is then riveted to the bottom. So it is different than the typical boat where the top edge overlaps the bottom.

I took a screen snip of it.

I haven't seen a deck to hull joint like that on a Glastron .. Though I haven't seen a lot of older ones disassembled.
Could you take a picture of it ?
Do you have the old rub rail, and can you post a picture ?
Is it riveted along seam ?

The picture with the added rivet is exactly what it looks like. I have never seen the rubrail, when I purchased the boat it didn't have one.

I have attached some pictures of the boat. I have added a windshield, but I don't know if it is the correct one. From the last two pictures you can see what I am talking about for the rub rail. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

OK .. Never seen one like that .. All boats I've seen had the shoe box design.
Your boat isn't a Glastron … Could be a Glasstream or Glasspar.

Here are the typical joints in fiberglass hulls. Rub rail is available for your boat from various sources, you just need the correct terminology to help explain what your looking for. Not a Glastron, at least I've never worked on one with that type of hull joint.

I am kind of bummed that it isn't a Glastron. Of course that is what the title says, 1971 Glastron.

Anyway thank you guys so much for the latest explanations! I looked thru the tacomarine book and it doesn't appear that they carry a rubrail for an outbound joint. I will have to keep looking around, but at least I know what I need to be asking for.

If you have the HIN...the manufacturer is coded into it.

I have an uncle that has one very similar to that one and it’s made by MFG I believe...
Have you made sure the hin number matches the registration. With 5 boats I’m always making sure the paper work matches what I have.

Mfg. didn't have to put HIN on until 1972, so if it's a 1971 it will not have at number.
If it has a HIN, it will be here (red circle) …

Have you looked behind dash and under splash well for any plates or tags ?

Looks like an MFG boat. Here's one I worked on a few years ago at the shop where I work. It has a similar checker logo on the side.
