Father's day weekend was selected as the 2025 Rathbun dates. June 12th through Sunday June 15th. Connie and I have set our reservations, staying in Marina hotel, covered slip for the CVZ. We arrive Wednesday, just for an extra day. Marina can be reached at 641-724-3212. There is plenty of RV and tent camping at the marina as well. On site restaurant has great food and drinks. Rathbun is somewhat a hidden gem for us, plenty of tranquility, lots of room, great little coves to float around in. Campgrounds are all around the lake.

We go every year. We pull the 5th wheel w/boat behind.

And we camp at the rathbun Marina, also get a slip there

just over a week out...
super excited
just checked, the lake level is "normal" at 904'
we will arrive mid day Wednesday

And this happens. Coupler went. New ones saposta get here Tuesday? 10 days to get it back together. Wish me luck

Well, at least the coupler went close to home.

The second year of Rathbun our coupler went out half way across the lake with the group.

We were about a mile up the miss when it went, but was still able to idle back to launch.
Any more than idle it would just spin.

New coupler in and all is good for driveway test. Now need to take blu out to lake and see if it will go faster than idle.

I feel so unsmart.
Ok guys. Whats the other thing that spins like a bad coupler, but is much easier to replace?

Yep. A bad hub on a prop!

All that work to change a coupler only to find out it was just a bad prop!
When I installed the motor and out drive on blue it looked like the coupler might be going, so my mind went right to that instead of checking the prop.

Oh well, live and learn.

Been there, done that. Not on that particular problem, but others. I just joined the group and would like to come for the get together, but have a few more things to do to the boat among other commitments. I live in southern Wisconsin about 300 miles away. Any other outings planned ?

There is a big one in August weekend of 8-10 at treasure island marina and campground. Look in the Minnesota post. Its a great time! Main page under news.

I would love to go to that one, but new grandchild due at that time. I did look into it, $400 for just two nights camping seems crazy to me.

Yep, I hate when that happens. I would really like to attend the Mississippi event but I already have that weekend booked for the next three years! Perhaps in 2028.
